Where I fit into your project

Three problems I get called about most.

Original Score

It doesn't sound like your world yet

The art direction is unmistakably yours. The music is still a temp track that could belong to any game on the store.

I compose

  • A main theme your players will hum
  • Character and faction motifs
  • Exploration and ambient beds
  • The scenes that have to land
  • Trailer and announcement cuts

Best for: worlds that need to feel like somewhere, not anywhere.

Interactive Music

The score loops and players mute it

Twenty minutes in, the same eight bars come round again. The music stopped following the game, so they turned it off.

I build

  • Music that follows the player's state
  • Exploration that becomes combat
  • Transitions nobody hears happen
  • Layered, re-mixable arrangements
  • FMOD implementation

Comfortable working directly with developers.

Best for: games where no two playthroughs sound the same.

Audio Direction

Nobody on the team speaks audio

Everyone can hear that something is off. Nobody can say what right sounds like, so the decision keeps sliding.

I work out with you

  • What your game should sound like
  • References your whole team can hear
  • Where music should stop and let play speak
  • How audio fits your pipeline and budget

Best for: small teams carrying audio without an audio person.

How we'd work together

Whether you need a single piece, a complete soundtrack or an ongoing collaborator, we'll find an approach that fits your game's scope and budget.

Step 1

We talk about your world

A short call or chat about your game, its atmosphere, its story, and what you want players to feel. No pressure, no jargon.

Step 2

Explore the musical direction

I create one or two short sketches to explore different emotional directions, and discover the right musical identity before committing to a full soundtrack.

Step 3

We iterate together

Full cues, written against gameplay and your feedback. Atmosphere first, always keeping the player's emotional experience at the centre.

Step 4

Delivery & implementation

You'll receive polished tracks, stems and, if needed, FMOD implementation so the music becomes part of the gameplay experience.

About Umberto (the person scoring your game)

Umberto's forest studio near Rome

I'm a composer, producer and guitarist working from a forest studio near Rome. I make cinematic hybrid music that sits between the emotional depth of an orchestra and the texture of modern electronic production.

I've led music and sound direction for a sci-fi game in development, released work under my own name, and lead the UP Trio, a jazz-influenced, rock-pumped, blues-felt band that keeps my instincts wide and honest. Games are where my focus is going; film and documentary keep the range alive.

I'm drawn to indie projects because they take creative risks, tell personal stories, and invite players to explore and feel. Those are exactly the projects I want to help bring to life.

Also working on film & documentary

▸ Showreel Film & game scoring reel 2:45 · dance · documentary · epic · videogame

Games are where my focus lives. Alongside them I take on a small number of selected film and documentary projects each year: the kind built on atmosphere, patience and a story worth scoring.

This reel spans all of it: a dance ensemble film, a nature documentary, an epic trailer, and a videogame concept trailer.
